With the holiday season upon us and boats settled in for their long winter’s nap, I would like to extend our thanks for your patronage at Harbour West Marina in 2021. We are truly grateful for your business and look forward to serving you in 2022.
I would also like to acknowledge your feedback that you shared in- person and through our end-of-year survey regarding marina operations. We very much appreciate your comments and concerns and are working to make Harbour West a welcome home away from home for you and your guests.
Waterfront Construction
Below is a letter from Ed English, manager at the City of Hamilton’s Waterfront Development Office. This letter outlines dates for completion of key infrastructure relating to the marina including fuel docks and sanitary sewer services required for the washroom and laundry facilities at Harbour West.
Letter From Ed English, City of Hamilton Waterfront Trust
Notable dates include:
- Sanitary sewer outlet for Amenity Building and Pump Out facilities to be completed by December 31, 2021
- Gas pumps to be ready for use by April 2022
Harbour West has setup bi-weekly status calls with city representatives to stay apprised of project status. Harbour West is committed to better communication with our customers regarding progress on waterfront project work that affects our customers.
Looking ahead to 2022
- Slip Fees – Harbour West Marina will hold marina slip fees constant for recreational boaters in 2022. Like many businesses, Harbour West is seeing increasing costs to deliver services.
- Slip Deposits – Slip renewal agreements will be sent to boaters via email beginning January 4th, 2022. Please sign & return your slip agreement back to the marina office along with a $500 deposit no later than February 15th to reserve your slip. You are strongly encouraged to reserve by this date as we continue to see very high demand for slips.
Staffing & Commitment to Service
You may have seen that we are hiring a new Marina Manager and Dock Master at Harbour West for the upcoming season. We are grateful to Kyle for guiding us through two seasons during a pandemic and wish him well in his new accounting role at McMaster. Kurt has moved to HOPA’s commercial team, though he keeps tabs on the marina – until we can fill these roles of course!
Despite these changes, we believe new energy will be welcome at the waterfront and we are confident that 2022 will be a great year for boaters in Hamilton. We believe that the service interruptions of 2021 are behind us and would like you to feel comfortable making our marina your “home away from home” in 2022.
For any general marina inquiries over the holidays or in the new year, please email [email protected] and our staff will be sure to get back to you. Once again, thank you for your patience, patronage and understanding. Have a safe, healthy and enjoyable holiday season.
